Flook Dam

Overview

The depth of the lakes upstream from the Flook Dam is controlled by the Flook Dam, located on the Huron River just below Portage Lake, to avoid flooding and ice damage, and to provide minimum water level to support boating activities on the lakes. The summer and winter water levels were set by court order in 1949 at 851.54 in the summer and 850.04-850.29 in the winter. Generally,  the water is lowered around Thanksgiving every year and raised in the spring before Easter. We forward notifications of the changes in water level each year to our members. We also post the information at Current Events.
